Yes, you can referee high school subvarsity games without being certified.

- SCMSOA will provide mentors to help you gain practical experience during your first few assignments.
No, you can’t officiate affiliated youth matches until you certify with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and you are not eligible to referee high school varsity games until you complete the requirements of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).
There is no substitute for the training that USSF and MSHSL provide. SCMSOA recommends that you pursue certification with those organizations as soon as possible to obtain the most thorough preparation for serving as a soccer referee.
