Yes, you can referee high school subvarsity matches without being certified.

- SCMSOA will provide mentors to help you gain practical experience during your first few assignments.
No, you can’t referee affiliated youth matches until you certify with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), and you can’t officiate high school varsity games until you certify with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).
There is no substitute for the training that USSF and MSHSL provide. SCMSOA recommends that you pursue certification with those organizations as soon as possible to obtain the most thorough preparation for serving as a soccer referee.
